Certainly the spike in blood sugar from an ice cream cone is not the same that of a banana - but the banana will cause a spike nonetheless. It stands to reason that if the banana is a stand-out on the glycemic index for a person (higher than the rest of her diet), that spike will have a greater effect than on someone who eats poorly.
