The Key To Weight Loss Is Diet Quality, Not Quantity, A New Study Finds
Are you willing to shed off some weight without exercise or dieting? Science agrees. In one study, researchers divided a group of 20 healthy adults into two groups. One group was instructed to do two sets of 10-minute breathing exercises, while the other group was told to read a text of their choice for 20 minutes. The subjects' saliva was tested at various intervals during the exercise. The breathing exercise group's saliva had significantly lower levels of three cytokines associated with stress and inflammation.
But experts are much more wary about OMAD. Kristin Kirkpatrick, lead dietitian and manager of Wellness Nutrition Services at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, has a few patients who've been following the plan for years. But for most people, life getting in the way and old habits can make sustaining the diet very challenging, she said.
